SGR is Schecter's beginner line, and the C-1 brings the look of the brand's famous metal-oriented C-1 to a much lower price. It's aimed at new players who want an aggressive-looking guitar with two humbuckers for rock, punk and metal.
Specifications
- Body: basswood, double-cutaway C shape
- Neck: maple, bolt-on, thin C profile
- Fingerboard: rosewood, 24 frets
- Scale: 25.5"
- Pickups: 2 × SGR passive humbuckers
- Controls: volume, tone, 3-way switch
- Bridge: Tune-o-matic with string-through body
- Finish: gloss black
Strengths
Fixed bridge. No tremolo means the guitar stays in tune well and is easy to restring — a real advantage for beginners. 24 frets and a deep lower cutaway make high notes easy to reach. Humbuckers handle distortion without hum and give a thick rhythm sound.
Limitations
- Clean tones are usable but less sparkling than a single-coil guitar.
- Basic pickups and tuners; many owners upgrade pickups later.
- Set-up can vary from the factory.
Verdict
A solid, stable first guitar for heavier styles. For more versatility across genres, compare the Yamaha Pacifica 112V; for the classic heavy humbucker sound with a set neck, see the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '50s.
