The Caraya E239CS is an inexpensive single-cut electric guitar modelled on the classic Les Paul layout. It's aimed at beginners who want the look and the thick humbucker sound of that style at the lowest possible price.
Specifications
| Body style | Single-cut (Les Paul-type), hardwood |
| Neck | Maple, set-in |
| Fingerboard | Rosewood, 22 frets |
| Scale length | 628 mm (approx. 24.75") |
| Pickups | 2 × humbucker (HH) |
| Controls | 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way switch |
| Bridge | Tune-o-matic with stop tailpiece |
| Finish | Red sunburst |
What to expect
The shorter 24.75" scale gives slightly lower string tension, which makes bends and chords feel easier for beginners. Two humbuckers with separate volume and tone controls allow blends between a warm neck tone and a sharper bridge tone, and the fixed bridge keeps tuning stable.
Realistic limitations
- Budget hardware and electronics; tuners and pots may need replacing over time.
- Quality control varies more than with major brands — check fret ends and intonation, and budget for a professional set-up.
- Heavier than bolt-on guitars of similar size.
Verdict
A low-cost way to try a Les Paul-style guitar. If you can stretch your budget, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '50s is a large step up in sound, hardware and resale value.
