The Frontman 10G is about as simple as a guitar amp gets: switch it on, plug in, and play. It's often bundled with starter guitars and is one of the cheapest amps from a major brand.
Features
- Output: 10 W
- Speaker: 6"
- Controls: gain, over-drive switch, volume, treble, bass
- Inputs: guitar, auxiliary (for play-along music)
- Output: headphone jack
What it does well
It's small, light and very easy to use, which is ideal for children and complete beginners. The clean channel is pleasant for chords, and the headphone output means practice can be silent. The aux input lets you play along with songs from a phone.
What it doesn't
- The overdrive is basic and fizzy at high gain.
- No built-in effects such as reverb or delay.
- Not loud enough to play with a drummer.
Should you buy it?
If the budget is tight and you just need something to make an electric guitar audible, yes. If you can stretch further, a modelling amp like the Boss Katana-50 MkII offers far more tones and will last much longer as your playing improves.
