The TD-02KV is Roland's most affordable kit with a mesh-head snare. It's designed for first-time drummers and small spaces, offering Roland's sound quality and practice tools in a simple package.
Key specs
| Module | TD-02 with drum kits and Coach functions |
| Snare | Mesh-head pad |
| Toms | Rubber pads |
| Kick | Compact kick unit with pedal (KD-1 beater-less design) |
| Cymbals | Crash and ride pads, hi-hat with controller pedal |
| Connections | USB-MIDI/audio (with adapter on some versions), headphones, mix input |
Beginner-friendly features
The module is simple to navigate, includes a metronome and timing-training exercises, and allows playing along with music from a phone via the mix input. The beater-less kick unit is quieter than a conventional pedal and kick pad, which helps in apartments.
Limitations
- Rubber tom pads feel firmer and louder to hit than mesh.
- Fewer kits and less expandability than the TD-07 range.
Verdict
A reliable, quiet starter kit from a leading brand. Players who want mesh on every drum should step up to the Roland TD-07KV.
