The KA-15S is one of the best-selling ukuleles anywhere, and it's often the first uke recommended to beginners. It's simple and inexpensive, but crucially it is set up to play in tune — the thing that frustrates most players with toy-like ukuleles.

Sound and feel
Bright and classic — the cheerful soprano sound people picture when they think of ukuleles. Aquila strings give it a warmer, less plasticky tone than budget strings. The satin neck is smooth and the frets are usually well finished for the price.
Is soprano the right size?
Soprano is the smallest standard size, perfect for children and for anyone who wants the traditional sound. Adults with larger hands may find frets cramped; a concert uke such as the Cordoba 15CM gives more room.
Verdict
A reliable, great-value first ukulele. Expect new strings to need retuning for several days while they stretch — that's normal.
